1. Why is my DVD skipping or stopping?

You  may think that your DVD player is broken, or the DVD itself is ruined after a glitchy playback. A simple lens cleaner can help this problem. It comes in the form of a DVD with micro brushes on it. You can buy it here: http://www.buy.com/prod/maxell-dvd-lc-dvd-laser-lens-cleaner/q/loc/111/90100778.html

2. Can my DVD player play a Reel Life Media DVD?

Most newer DVD players support our DVD format. You will have no problem playing your DVD if you have purchased a DVD player in the last 3 years. If your DVD does not work with your player, simply return the DVD, and you will get a full refund.

3. What is a Photomontage?

A photomontage brings your photos to life onto a DVD using exciting transitions and your favorite music becomes a fluid narration.  The result is better than you could imagine, and is the most emotional and personal gift for someone special!

4. What are menu and title pages?

Each DVD has an opening page, or title page giving your project in introduction. Title pages can also be placed in the middle of the video to introduce a new topic. A menu page is used when you have a bigger project that could be broken up into chapters. This allows you to view the entire project, or skip ahead to a spot further along on the DVD.

5. What are captions?

Captions give an explanation to the picture. They can also add humor to a particular picture!

6. What is the difference between a slideshow and an animated photomontage?

Slideshow photomontages are more simple than the animated ones. Although still very nice, slideshows are pictures with transitions between each one. Background music, captions, title pages, and menu pages are all available for the slideshows. Animated photomontages are just that. The pictures can move around on the screen with dynamic text entangled throughout the video. Animated photomontages require more from the customer and Reel Life Media, as far as planning and producing the final project. This is why they are priced by the hour instead of per picture. 8. When does it become a documentary or biography instead of a photomontage?

Documentaries and biographies can have pictures in them, but usually have other elements involved in the DVD. Interviews from friends and family members give it a more personal and intimate feel. They also can serve as the narration to the story. Documentaries usually have a lot of other video work included depending on the subject.

9. I have so many pictures and videos. Where do I begin, and how do I organize them?

The more organized you are, the smoother the process will be. A few things to think about before searching through old pictures and videos are:

  1. Do you want pictures from the persons entire life, or would you like to focus on a particular time in their life?
  2. What feel are you going for; humorous, sentimental, factual, or a little of everything?
  3. Do you want it to be narrative or simply have music in the background?
  4. Do you want/need captions explaining the photos?
  5. Do you want video included in the DVD?
  6. Would the video be old home movies, or interviews from friends and family that you or Reel Life Media can capture?

Now you have a goal. Try to gather everything needed to complete the DVD. If you have a general idea, I can help you develop it into a full blown project you can be proud of!

11. How many pictures can I put on a photomontage DVD?

Generally, one song will need 20 - 30 pictures to fill the entire length of the song. This can be altered by the length of time each picture is shown, but this is a good guideline. The number of songs you can have is not limited, so photomontage's can be as long or as short as you want!

12. Can I incorporate video with pictures?

Some people like to intertwine video with the pictures, and some like to keep them separate. It is really a personal choice, and both turn out very nice. The video can be used as sort of a narrative for the flow of the DVD. They can be kept separated by chapters or be totally different videos but on the same DVD.

13. How do I get my pictures to you?

You can send them to me electronically or by mail. You can scan them yourself and then either put them onto a disc and send them to me by mail, or email them to me.

If you scan them yourself make sure you:

- have cleaned the scanner and pictures to reduce and fingerprints or dust that might be on them.

-save them as a JPG

-number them in the order you would like them to be displayed with a 3-digit number. (For example 001.jpg, 002.jpg)

-have separate folders for for each song or section, and number the folders as well.

-scan them at a high resolution for the best results.

If you would like me to scan them:

-number each photo in the order you would like them to be displayed.

-place each song or section in a separate zip lock bag.

14. Can I add onto the DVD after with pictures from the actual event it was made for?

Some people like to complete their DVD with adding photo's to from the event it was made for. Or, you can add on pictures as your children grow to keep it up to date. This is not a problem at all! If this is for an event, you can tell me before hand and I will give you a "dummy" DVD to play at the event, and then finish afterwards.

16. I've placed my order.  Now what do I do?

17. Why do you charge by the hour instead of package deals?

Some people have package deals that offer a certain number of photos or captions you can have. I chose to charge by the hour for the more complex projects to give you more bang for your buck. I don't like to limit creativity! If you prefer to have a set price before we begin, I can give you one with certain restrictions you must follow.
